I’m A Celebrity plays Squid Game as stars compete in red light green light and walk the plank

I’m A Celebrity viewers said the TV show opening reminded them of Netflix show Squid Game as celebrities had to play red light, green light after being forced to walk the plank for their first ever challenge.

The celeb line-up felt true terror as they were made to wait for a green light before they could stamp on a button to try and save themselves from a huge drop.

Emmerdale’s Danny Miller who plays Aaron Dingle went head to head with former Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin on the first challenge and lost while producer Naughty Boy, who also lost, went up against screaming radio presenter Snoochie Shy who had earlier admitted in the helicopter: “Now I have poo coming out my bum.”

Fans couldn’t believe it as they watched what they called a real life Squid Game scenario unfold in front of their eyes as Ant and Dec told the contestant they had to wait for the green light before they could make their move.

One fan said: “@imacelebrity copied squid game.” #ImACeleb

Another added: “@antanddec turning #Imaceleb into squid game.”

And someone else said: “What in the squid game is this #imacelebrity #ImACeleb.”

Another ventured: ” Ain’t no squid games but I suppose we will settle.”

I’m a Celebrity had elements of the red light, green light game in Squid Game

And another chirped: “@imacelebrity has gone all Squid Games @antanddec.”

Someone else lamented: “This is giving me Squid Game flashbacks #ImACelebrity.” and another confirmed: “squid game meets celebs ! Love it.”

However one person thought it was worse adding:”Not going to lie….would take my chances at playing squid games than walk that plank… @imacelebrity how beautiful does North Wales look!!! #ImACeleb.”

Squid Game became Netflix most viewed series and I’m A Celebrity bosses are no doubt hoping to recreate some of the more frightening moments from the show in this year’s challenges.
